Rutherford First Aid Squad Captain Michael Tarantino has reported that the Squad responded to 1,385 calls for assistance during the calendar year 2013, traveling over 15,707 miles. Of the 1,385 calls for assistance, 896 calls were classified as medical emergencies, 379 calls were for trauma and 102 calls were for motor vehicle accidents. There were 24 fire calls and 84 calls were classified as other. The Squad visited 6 different hospitals, with Hackensack University Medical Center leading with 1203 visits. The Squad treated 971 residents, 339 nonresidents and responded to 57 mutual aid calls in adjacent communities. The Squad requested the services of the Paramedics on 478 occasions.
